We successfully delivered another 50 packets of food yesterday! It's always an exciting time as photos and text updates begin to roll in. I can see how hard Katy, Lucia and volunteer Jogeli are working and I already know how hot and humid it is. I can see the smiles on the increasingly familiar faces of family members who are there to receive the food. And I can see the increasingly brighter smiles on Katy, Lucia and Jogeli's faces depsite the hard work, the long day and the rising heat. I know that feeling, even if I can't be there in person to share in it specifically. It is the feeling of joy and constantly renewing energy that comes from actively doing something - anything large or small - to improve the world around you. I hope our donors are sharing in that sensation too. And I wanted to leave off this month's update with a translation of the texts I receieved from both Katy and Lucia as they reached out at the end of yesterday to let me know they were finished:


Katy; 6:55pm:
      "Thank you. Helping is a pleasure for me. My greatest thanks to all the donors. It was more joyful this month because the country is more jobless, lots of illnesses with the children and just this package is a huge help to a family. Thanks, a thousand times thank you for your help. We feel very happy. Thank you for helping Nicaragua, the country I love so much."


















Lucia; 7:12pm:
    "Thank you very very much. I feel so pleased. God care and protect you all."

This month I'd like to spend a moment giving a giant shout out to Katy, Lucia and Jogeli. Without these three women, Los Paquetes would not be possible. Left to Right: Katy, Lucia & Jogeli      John and I are forever grateful for the work they do each month to secure transportation, spend the morning at multiple markets buying supplies, then the labor of repackaging it all into individual portions in whatever weather...To say nothing of the hours of actually delivering this food that then follows. From Vision to Reality

We are so grateful for all the donors in April whose generous contributions have helped turn our vision into a reality. In Katy's words, "It is a lot of sweat but all excellent." as Lucia, Katy and volunteer Jogelis get back from the market with supplies and begin the process of making individual food packets. Our launch has been a success but the work is not over. Together with a driver, Lucia, Katy and Jogelis will deliver each packet to a family in need. We will continue to campaign, raising funds and awareness in the hopes that next month will be just as successful. Stay tuned for more photos and updates as the packets are delivered.

Ready to Launch!

After several months of planning and preparation, we are finally ready to launch our campaign!  Beginning April 1st, we will be delivering food packets to families across 2 villages.  Each packet will consist of: 10lb Rice 5ls   Beans 5lb   Sugar 2lb   Salt 1lb   Olive Oil 1lb   Coffee 1lb   Oats Our goal is to increase the number of packets we deliver each month until we reach 100.
